LITHUANIAN POLITICAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATION (LPA) - is independent non-governmental organization, which unites political scientists as well as other persons, interested in political science. LPA was established in 1991 and today it has more that 70 members - lecturers of Lithuanian universities, politicians, journalists and representatives of other professions. Mission of LPA is to stimulate development of political science in Lithuania, to disseminate information on achievements of political sciences. LPA cooperates with International Political Science Association - IPSA (LPA is collective member of IPSA from 1994), and with Central European Political Science Association - CEPSA (collective member from 2001).
LPA, together with Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University, organizes annual conferences, seminars, publishes newsletter, disseminates information to its members on various traineeships and national and international events, organized by LPA, Lithuanian universities or other institutions.
Representatives of LPA participate in IPSA world congresses and research committees, as a collective member LPA receives the following publications by IPSA: International Political Science Abstracts, International Political Science Review and newsletter of IPSA secretariat Participation. In 2006, Irmina Matonytė, president of LPA, was elected to the IPSA Council.
